I'm That Chick!

"......I'm just amazed....I just don't think you're the same gal I used to know...." "I can't believe you lug that barbell on your back doing lunges...." (That's a 45lb bar 40 lunges 2 rounds)

Those were the words from one of my dear past clients, Larry. He is a widow in his 80's whom I used to take care of in my past life as a Bank Manager. You heard me right....I did have a professional life in my past with math (don't worry, banks have calculators). How I landed a job as a Bank Manager straight out of college without any banking experience or college math is still beyond me. However, I do have outstanding management skills! Just ask my kids!

Back to Larry. He is a very dear friend to me whom I shared stories of my two children at the time and love to hear about his "winter" home in Hawaii. He currently works out at the same gym as I every day doing cardio. He is an inspiration to me. Every day he hits the gym. Anyway, I proceeded to tell him that I'm still the same woman he knew 5 years ago. I'm still that chick who strives for perfection and empowerment.

Larry got me thinking that day....Am I that same chick 5 years ago? As I mentioned in my past I did have a professional career. I have never loved a job as much as I did as a Bank Manager. Sure, I was very young and most older men wouldn't even think of asking me for advice on their accounts. But, as I proved to them that I was there for awhile they slowly gave me their respect.

As, I grew to love corporate America and I got closer to the top of the ladder I realized that I was needed somewhere else. Caroline would soon be entering Kindergarten and my husband's business was expanding it was time for me to make a choice.

I often read a quote in my home growing up as a child but never really understood it till that time. "No success can compensate for failure in the home"

So, as I have entered this Fitness Journey I feel like all of those emotions I had as a professional in corporate America I have zeroed in on my current goal. The drive, the obsessiveness (that's getting to my husband) the desire to WIN or to finish that last mile or burn even more - yeah.....I'm that Chick!! Yep, when I'm running that last mile I run faster, crank up my tunes, I prefer "Queen - I want it All"and think about all the things that keep me motivated. Let's face it we have some competitive spirit in all of us!

And one last thing....if ya wanna know what makes a great Manager....it's called Delegation (just make sure the people you delegate to have the same goal as you!)
